China"s unmanned spacecraft Shenzhou-8 docked successfully with the space lab Tiangong-1 Thursday morning, announced Chang Wanquan, Commander-in-chief of China"s manned space program.
Shenzhou-8 turned to the autonomous navigation control mode at around 23:00 on Wednesday to prepare for the docking, and Tiangong-1, which was launched on September 29, is waiting in “good conditions”, orbiting at 343 kilometers.
The docked air vehicles will travel together for 12 days and separate on November 14 to conduct another docking on the same day, according to Zhou Jianliang, a deputy chief engineer at the Beijing Aerospace Control Center.
